Downstream Event in Wellington
We took part in the "Downstream" event on March 5th and 6th at the Lower Hutt Events Centre in Wellington, where industry professionals gathered for a dynamic two-day experience. We brought along our virtual reality gear and set up a VR lane that became a hit with attendees, thanks to the thrilling Richie's Plank Experience.
Two Days, Two Unique VR Journeys
We set up a dedicated VR lane with Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3 and Pico 4 VR headsets, giving attendees two days of heart-pounding virtual challenges:
Day 1: Urban Heights
Participants took on the "City" version of Richie's Plank Walk, daring to step out over a city skyline. The sensation of balancing on a plank high above the streets below was enough to make most hearts race.
Day 2: Canyon Depths
On the second day, guests found themselves standing on a plank over a vast canyon, where the drop added a layer of exhilaration, blending landscapes with virtual fun.
To make the experience more inclusive, we projected the VR headsets onto a 60-inch TV screen so everyone could see the fun.
Safety First
We set up thorough health and safety measures, including hand sanitizers and microfiber cloths to clean gear between users. We used protective covers and non-abrasive cleaners on all equipment. We displayed clear health and safety guidelines to keep everyone informed. Our team took care of everything from setup to operation.Â
Specs and Setup
We used four Meta Quest 2, Quest 3 and Pico 4 headsets for a smooth, wireless experience, paired with Google Chromecast to project the VR content.
We really enjoyed being part of the "Downstream" event and seeing the excitement on everyone's faces. If you're looking to bring something unique and interactive to your next event, please email us info@virtualrealityhire.co.nz.
