How to setup the Google Chromecast - So You Can Cast To Your TV
To set up the Google Chromecast, you need a little technical knowledge and a Router with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi enabled. Please follow the instructions below for your setup.
1.) Hold down the Chromecast's side button until an orange LED blinks. Hold the button down until the LED goes white, then release it. This starts a restore.
2.) To install the Google Home App, open the App Store or Play Store / Google Play (other brands) on your phone and search "Google Home." Install the app and follow the prompts. Confirm that your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromecast.
3.) Launch the Google Home app and follow the on-screen prompts.
Did you have problems?
If you don't see the steps to set up Chromecast, please press "+" (top left) and then "Set up device", then "New device", then "Add to an existing location" or "Add another home" next in the Google Home app home screen. It is presently hunting for devices. Follow the on-screen instructions.
You may need to check if you have 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi if you are not seeing your network. Here are the steps.
- Connect to the WiFi network on your laptop/PC.
- Open your networks panel from your taskbar (click the WiFi icon in the bottom right).
- Click on “Properties” of your WiFi network.
- In the new window that opens, scroll all the way down to “Properties”.
- “Network Band” will either say 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
If 2.4 Ghz network is not enabled or visible, you may need to log onto your router to enable this. You will need to check your instructions for your router, if you're not sure how this is done.
